Buildings of New York and the Field Guide to the Ordinary Buildings of Manhattan is a slice of a larger project we call New York is the World (NYTW).

NYTW is a family passion project of the attempting to map, codify, observe and appreciate our beloved city’s diverse populations of people, buildings, and neighborhoods.

The Field Guide focuses particularly on Manhattan’s built landscape and aims to provide our readers with the tools to understand their everyday surroundings on a deeper level.
